Bruise Progression (Self Portrait)

During a volleyball game I was elbowed in the face, and I decided it would amuse me to record the progression of the bruise. As of today, my face has been bruised for two weeks and four days. I stopped taking pictures of it after the 13th day because even though my cheekbone is still bruised, you can't really tell in the pictures.Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas!

Tribal Female Eyes

I'm excited to start working on the Fairy Tale Zombies more in depth but I only have a basic knowledge (Disney version) of a lot of the fairy tales I'm interested in. I bought a couple Alice in Wonderland books, and I'm reviewing Grimm's tales, and having lots of fun doing research. Here's a sketch in the meantime-nothing special-just something I drew when I got bored.

It's snowing outside, we're supposed to get a bunch more in the next couple days, and I'm listening to Christmas music for the first time this year :D Happy Holidays!!

Fairy Tale Zombies Thumbnail Description

It came to my attention that even though you can blow up the sketches from my last post-you still might not be able to read my writing. In case you couldn't tell-the fairy tales depicted in the sketches so far are: Rapunzel, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz, Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Snow White, King Midas (and the Golden Touch), The Golden Key, Thumbelina, and Beauty and the Beast. I've got many more on my list such as Hansel and Gretel, but keep in mind that I'm staying away from any that have mostly (or all) animal characters.

Fairy Tale Zombies Thumbnails

Some sketches I've been working on for the Fairy Tale Zombies project. Got a suggestion for another fairy tale?

Spider Girl

Did I say four? Make that three :D

Update

I am working on 4 more animal/girl illustrations for the Adorkable Doodles series, and soon I plan on making a calendar available for sale online, keep checking! I'll try to have it done by the end of November so you can give it as a gift for the holidays.

In other news: Studio Sunday has a new project in the works (which I'm participating in this time). We are working on separate(-ish) projects with all the same theme - Fairy Tales! I'm excited to get working on this one so I'm trying to speed up what's left of the Adorkable Doodles series.

Let me know if you want to buy a print, calendar, or book!

Zombie Scribble

I haven't been to Studio Sunday in awhile but I dropped by today to hang out and sketched this. I thought it was appropriate given the season (I love Halloween).

APE 2009 (Alternative Press Expo) is October 17-18 at the Concourse in San Francisco - Visit members of Studio Sunday and Lovesick Robot Press in booth #414! If you are unable to make APE but still want a copy of Adorkable Doodles-feel free to contact me!

Squirrel Girl

Last one! This makes 8, but I maaaay go for 12 and turn it into a calendar also. That will be later though, because right now I have to think of something to write about my art, like some sort of artist statement or something. O.o

Snake Girl

Well apparently I was wrong about how long it would take me to get this one finished. I love fros :D Anyway, now that I'm looking at these two as a whole, I think I might go back and add some tribal designs to the animals, they look a little sad without them. But that will have to be another day, probably after everything else is finished to make sure that I have enough time.

Wolf Girl

A wolf! Snakes are next! I'm mostly done with the snake one so after that there's only one left-how exciting! My brother would yell at me for using so many exclamation points! Well I got places to be and things to do today-so keep a watch for Snake Girl and tell me what you think of Wolf Girl.

Parrot Girl

Oh heck yeah. I've been working all day to start and finish the illustration below aaaand I finished the one that will go next to the Octopus Girl in the book. Yay! Nothing like getting stuff done! Less than half to go!!!

Cat Girl

I've been feeling like crap since the middle of last night, when I woke up to throw up, so after taking a three hour nap at 5pm I decided if I was going to just sit around I might as well work on something so here is the cat girl so far. As usual it may be finished and it may not. I have to decide if I want to add more detail to the design again. . .
I'm starting to get nervous about finishing my book in time for printing. I still have four more watercolor illustrations, half the cover (which I have no idea what to do with), and six poem/sketch pages (which I haven't been posting here). O.o

Octopus Girl Update

Updated version. Like it better? Let me know.

Octopus Girl

Hey guys, I have another new illustration for the book. I'm not sure if I'm leaving this one as is, I might get more detailed with a design on the octopus. There will be another one with cats coming soon!

Butterfly Girl

Oh my goodness! \o/ Two posts in two days. And I couldn't have timed it better-finish my second book illustration today, and party tomorrow. But this will be a short post because my eyes are slowly drooping . . . Let me know what you think.

Me (with photoshoped blue eyes)

I cut my bangs the other day, so I was playing around with the camera to satisfy my vanity, blah, blah, blah . . . anyway after satisfying my boredom-this is what I would look like with blue eyes.

Fish Girl

Hey hey. Not too long ago I was talking about a book that Studio Sunday and I will be publishing to sell at a APE (Alternative Press Expo), this is the first illustration I've done that will be included in the book. My plan is to do more on the same concept, but with me (and my decisive prowess) you never know.

The symbol in the first one means 'Butterfly' at least according to a few sources on the web (so . . .)

You may have noticed a change in the coloring around here, I got sick of black as a background, and eventually I'll probably get sick of this too.

Saturday, June 6, 2009

I took off work on Friday and had a totally awesome day. Thursday night I spent time working on one of my book ideas, and painting for the first time in a long time-while hanging out with Studio Sunday's crew. Then Friday (after seeing Kung Fu Panda for the time-also awesome) the day was so perfect that we went and hung out at the beach for a few hours.
I didn't scan what I worked on Thursday night, but these are a few more tattoo ideas-I think I've decided the tattoo I'm going to get but I don't want to put it up anywhere so that I can be the only one who has it :D

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Well I promised color and here it is, I stumbled on these two paintings I made in college in my spare time (I had spare time? Don't remember that). The other thing is a t-shirt design I did for the software engineering group at MSOE. I guess they do a t-shirt every year or something. I think that I'm going to tweak it a little and add it as my first design to threadless.

I'm brainstorming trying to come up with an awesome idea for a bunch of illustrations (and maybe a story too) that I can turn into a book. We shall see where it leads.

Thursday, May 28, 2009

I've decided that the next post I make is going to have to have some color in it. But in the meantime - New tattoo design, for anyone who likes birds (I hear swans are vicious, which might be why I like them).

Window Study

Yay I've been added to Studio Sunday's crew! www.studiosunday.org

I drew this awhile ago with those involved there (and some other people). I was planning on doing a window study series, but so far I only have two. . . and right now only one that I have transfered into the digital world.

Swans & Wrinkles

These are sketches I did at Studio Sunday this week

I'm so far beyond designing tattoos for myself anymore, now it's just fun to design them at all. So here are some more.
